At SIAL 2016, all forms of organic could be found. Often, it was merely for green washing , serving as the last rites for engineers in marketing products whose target audience of “bobos” was pretty obvious. Except for the Danish, who came promoting organic as an essential part of their political discourse. The stand of the very official Danish Food Council holds a unique space at SIAL, representing 20 billion euros in annual organic exports. Imagine for a moment that France was represented in a major expo such as SIAL, by both the minister of agriculture and the FNSEA, and that only organic producers were presented! We spoke with Mette Jesper Gammicchia who explained to us Denmark’s success in the field of organic production.
